Katie Grinnan- Recent Sculpture
September 05, 2008 - November 30, 2008

An exhibition of recent sculpture by the Los Angeles based artist Katie Grinnan. Grinnan’s colorful, tumultuously disjointed sculptures have been described as “choreographed wrestling matches between the second and third dimensions.” In recent works, found objects become precisely arranged armatures for digitally stretched, cropped and collaged photographs. The artist’s entangled structures capture creation and demolition simultaneously, forming abstract narratives about nature, architecture and perception. Grinnan has exhibited has had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art at Altria, the Aspen Museum of Art, and the Pomona College Museum of Art. She was included in the 2004 Whitney Biennial and is represented by Acme Gallery in Los Angeles.
